Internship or student exchange
Are you doing an internship? Or going on an exchange? Sometimes you can keep your student finance during this period.
Internship for credit
Are you doing an internship that is part of your study programme and for which you are receiving credit? Then you must meet at least 1 of the following 2 conditions:
- In the month before your internship, you worked at least 32 hours and received student finance. Or
- In the 6 months before your internship, you worked an average of at least 24 hours a month and received student finance.
Supporting documents
If you meet 1 or both conditions, please upload the following documents:
- an internship agreement signed by you and the internship company
- a declaration from your educational institution bearing a signature or official stamp which states:
- that you will continue to be enrolled at the educational institution for the duration of the internship
- that the internship is a compulsory component of the study programme or that you will receive study credits for it
- the exact period of the internship
- the name of the internship company.
Paid internship in the Netherlands
Don’t you meet de conditions above, and are you doing a paid internship in the Netherlands? Then you may still be eligible for student finance.
Supporting documents
Upload the following documents:
- an internship agreement between you and the internship company. The agreement must either be printed on the company’s official paper or have a company stamp on it. The agreement must include:
- your own name, address, and place of residence
- the internship company’s name, address, city or town, and signature
- start and end date of the internship
- how many hours per month you spend on your internship
- the amount of the (hourly) wage or compensation.
- a statement from the internship company, including:
- a description of your daily or weekly work schedule
- the tasks you will be performing
- how many of your working hours you spend on the internship assignment as compared to the hours spent on regular work tasks.
Exchange
If you are planning to go on a student exchange abroad, you must meet at least 1 of the following 2 conditions:
- In the month before your student exchange, you worked at least 32 hours and received student finance. Or
- In the 6 months before the student exchange, you worked at least 24 hours a month and received student finance.
Supporting documents
If you meet 1 or both conditions, please upload proof of enrolment at a foreign educational institution and a declaration from your Dutch educational institution stating:
- that the exchange programme is a compulsory part of the study programme
- the exact period of the student exchange.
