Subsidy for Expertise Centre Educational Care (special needs expertise centre)

The Expertise Centre Educational Care (special needs expertise centre, EOZ) assists and oversees pupils and students who may fall behind for mixed reasons. The EOZ provides extra care, in addition to the care provided by the schools themselves. The EOZ in Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius works with the schools on the islands.

What does the EOZ offer?

  • educational support activities for pupils or students with reduced abilities or behavioural difficulties
  • practical, day-to-day support for pupils or students with reduced abilities or behavioural difficulties
  • action-oriented diagnosis of pupils or students at the request of the board, the partnership, or parents
  • advice and colleague-to-colleague consultations (on request)

How to apply

Send the island care plan for the next school year to the Inspectorate of Education by 15 May. This counts as a subsidy request for the following calendar year.

Subsidy set-up

The budget is made up of 2 parts: a fixed sum for each EOZ and an amount that depends on the number of pupils or students on 1 October of the previous year.

Additional sum for Saba and Sint Eustatius

Because of higher level of costs on the islands of Saba and Sint Eustatius, the EOZ’s receive extra funding. The additional amount is 16% of the subsidy amount.

Payment

Subsidy is paid out to the EOZ in 12 equal monthly instalments.
